I know this is kind of in the wrong board, but its part of my pain managment, Has anybody been experiencing that the new generic Ambien is'nt working as well as the original? The reason I ask is because I read on here some one else complianing of someting not working right from the pharmacy, and I just saw a deal on 20-20 saying that all these drugs are being copied and sold to us,the normal american citizen. Hundreds of tons going through legit dealers and ending up at walgreens, walmart, safeway, everywhere. I get mine through a Mailorder company for insurance reasons, but now I wonder. Because these things suck! I havent slept since I got them. I wonder If I got a batch of drywall drugs?

I have to order mine through mail order too, because of our insurance. I'm still on a prescription of the brand Ambien, but when I got the generics in the mail not long ago, I tried one that night just to see how they would work. I didn't notice any difference, but I'm on Methadone and I also take Elavil and Klonopin at bedtime too. That might make a difference.

I get the generic form of the original Ambien....it is made by Teva. I haven't noticed any problems with this version of the med. I've never tried the Ambien CR (is that the newest one?). I also take Trazadone at night and I know that the combination really helps me get a good night's sleep. Memere (Kathy)

I have only been rxd brand name Ambien a few years ago. It would knock me out for 5 hours or so, then I would wake up and never get back to sleep. That is probably the reason for Ambirn CR....to help keep you asleep, but I imagine at this point there is no generic so probably pricey. I also take Elavil 10mg for a chronic bladder pain condition and it is more subtle that Ambien...I take it at dinner time, doesn't make me sleepy, but when I go to bed at 10 or 11 i sleep thru the night. It's important to take it earlier in the evening, otherwise it can cause drowsiness the next day. There is a generic and it is dirt cheap. It's most oftened rxd these days at low doses for nerve pain, rather than depression, but sometimes rxd to help with sleep. Best wishes.
