View Full Version : Exercise bike effective?

Hi everyone,

Recently, I have begun biking with a friend 2x/week. We go roughly 10-20 km and work very hard (my face turns beet red by the end :P)

Anyway, I also bought a Magnetic Upright Cycle 2 days ago to ride while watching TV... I have been doing about 20-40 minutes on it every day.

I'm just wondering how effective exercise bikes are, and what you all would recommend per week on the bike inside...since the outside biking will only be 2x/week.

Thank you all!
Oh - I'm 21, 5'4 and 160 pounds (blech!) Hoping to get down to 120...

I believe it is effective but you have to make it hard. Peddle at different levels throughout your workout. Having your heart rate go up and down is a much better workout. Try walking also. Doing different things will help with your weightloss and it wont get so boring. Good luck to you.
