My DD got a bouncer chair that vibrates for her baby shower. My Dad said he read somewhere that the vibrations will hurt the baby and not to use the vibrating part of it just the music and stuff. Has anyone else heard of this?

I haven't heard that. My DD loves the vibrations. By the way, babies are in vibrating chairs every time they ride in the car. :)

My son LOVED the vibrations! I also heard that the vibrations are good for gassy babies--

My now two year old spent the first 6 months of her life in a vibrating chair. It was the only way to get her to sleep. As far as I can tell - she has suffered no ill effects.

I have three children...all loved the vibrating bouncy chair. All are fine. Never heard of such a thing.

...and in their strollers, and in their carrying slings, and in your arms..... vibrating chairs are GREAT!!! :)

I never heard that either, but I did always wonder if it was ok. My ds wasn't happy unless the vibrations were on in his bouncy chair. I never understood how babies could stand that for so long! Wouldn't you think they would get irritated with it after a while? I would!

I think maybe there was some confusion over the miniscule movement a vibrating chair makes and shaken baby syndrome. There is a big difference. The little vibrations in the chair are ok... shaking a baby isn't.

I didn't travel anywhere in the first 3 or 4 months without my daughter's vibrating chair. It worked wonders too when she was having her gassy problems.
