View Full Version : Weird colon problem

I had an abdominal x-ray the other day and it showed that a 2in spot of my colon was not moving/contracting and that the X-ray caught it. I have been having some issues in the bathroom lately , not going as much and a lot of loose stools and was wondering what that meant to the symptoms I have been having. I also get bloated when eating a normal sized meal and sometimes I feel like its not fully leaving my stomach/upper intestine like it normally does as after I eat my heart rate goes up and stays like that for hours at a time. Could I have a small blockage of some kind in my upper intestine that is affecting my whole body? I do seem to burp an awful lot (a lot of the times on purpose because I feel pressure building up in my lower chest cavity). What should I do? The tech told me this is not uncommon and doesn't necessarily think its anything to worry about as long as I can move my bowels.

I PUT THIS IN GENERAL HEALTH BY MISTAKE..

I swear to god I must be a fracking alien...I get pains all over my body...mostly in my chest and feels exactly like from my heart and my cardiologist looks at me like I am nuts...I eat a small meal yet still get bloated and have a ton of gas that makes me feel like belching all day long and my gastroenterologist looks at me like I have 3 heads...i get diagnosed with this stupid bowel issue from an xray , as if its not a snapshot picture yet they can tell part of my bowel isn't moving lmfao...I am definitely donating this body to science..can I get money for that while I am alive? ;)

It sounds to me like you need a second opinion.

I am interested in your x-rays. How could your doctor tell that your colon wasn't working properly? Wouldn't an x-ray reveal a blockage? And have you had a colonoscopy yet?

I am just beginning my quest to see what's going on with me and my unrelenting constipation/blood issues. I haven't had x-rays yet, but my colonoscopy 3 years ago revealed a few polyps (some pre-cancerous) that my gastro removed. He said to come back in 5 years.

(BTW, my father died of colon cancer 3 years ago.)

I know that polyps take a long time to grow, and then even longer to become cancerous. But I wonder if rectal tumours are different?

I don't have the runny stools, but I am experiencing what I believe is some sort of blockage high up. (It sounds gross, but I can feel it) Like you, a lot of gas, but even that doesn't get through. The bloating and water retention (puffy everywhere -- and I watch my sodium intake religiously) is pronounced. I am a lean person, so any kind of extra flub is noticable.

With even a slight bit of strain, my rectum expands out (with several large hemmhroids) about 2 inches. If it wasn't so freaking frustrating, I would actually find the whole thing rather fascinating, especially as it all came on literally in a matter of a day in early July.

My gastro has already dx'd the hemmhroids (like he could miss them anyway), and also several internal ones that he said where causing the stop-up. Have you been rx'd any laxatives? Lactulose and avitisa, along with strong cortisone cream, helped at the beginning, but now not even liquid is passing.

BTW, the avitisa helps your colon start to massage properly again -- has your doctor said anything to you about this?

I hope you feel better soon!

The XRAY i had at the hospital just supposedly showed that 2 inches of my colon were not contracting along with the rest of my colon. Dunno how they could tell that with a static picture of my abdomen but like I said I do have gastric issues all the time and sometimes pain when I go to the bathroom so who knows. I had a colonoscopy in 2005 that had 1 tiny polyp non cancerous. I am seeing my Gastro doctor today.
