Hello,
I'm new to this board and the study of dietetics. I have a B.A. in English but decided to go back to school to become a RD. I have been in a distance dietetics program for just about a year and am very excited to get into the field and gain the knowledge and insight that will make me a great RD. However, I have some serious doubts about my ability to uphold the standards of a good dietitian.
I know that my current diet isn't what people would call "healthy" and that scares me. As much as I try, I still have those vices for sweets and the occasional fast food run. I try to exercise every day, but feel like I should be a marathon runner or more athletic and toned. I know that I'm being very stereotypical, but I have always had a little bit of a body image issue and am working against those thoughts in pursuit of a fulfilling career.
Could anyone give me insight into the real world of dietetics? I'm from a small town and haven't had much first had exposure to anyone in the field; are all dietitians really vegetarians and very slim? I don't mean to sound like an idiot, but I'm really out of the loop on this one.
