:) HELLO, I AM NEW TO THIS BOARD. I HOPE SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME SOME INFORMATION. I HAD A HYSTERECTOMY JULY 2005 DUE TO CERVICAL CANCER. THEY WERE ABLE TO LEAVE MY OVARIES AND CHEMO WAS NOT NECESSARY. EVERYTHING WENT VERY WELL AND IT WAS A EASY RECOVERY. A YEAR LATER I HAD A MRI FOR THE REASON THAT I HAVE NERVE DAMAGE AND THEY WERE TRYING TO RULE OUT MALIGNANCIES. THEY NOTICE A CYST ON EACH OVARIE. WE KEPT AN EYE ON THEM BECUASE I INSISTED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A CYST WILL WASH AWAY WHEN YOU NO LONGER HAVE A PERIOD. THE NEXT SONAGRAM SHOWS IT HAS GOTTON LARGER AND APPEARS TO BE HEMMORRAGIC CYST. IF IT HAS RUPTURED HAD DOES IT CONTINUE TO GROW. I INSISTED THEY DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT BESIDES WAITING 3 MORE MONTHS TO SEE IF IT GROWS MORE. IT IS THE SIZE OF A EGG YOK. I AM NOW WAITING FOR A CAT SCAN. IN THE MEAN TIME I HAVE CRAMPS AND ACHEE BACK AND UPPER THIGHS. IT IS ALL TOLERABLE I AM JUST WORRIED OF HAVING CANCER AGAIN. I ALSO FEEL EXHAUSTED MOST OF THE TIME AND I HATE IT. ANY INFO I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE.

Hi,
I had a hysterectomy in 2002, and was diagnosed with an 6-cm ovarian cyst in October of 2005. We're still "watching" it, almost two years later. It's at 4-cm, but still causes me pain sometimes.
Even if you have a hysterectomy and don't have periods, your ovaries still go through their usual monthly cycle of creating eggs. The eggs form in little bubbles and then the bubbles usually dissolve. If they don't dissolve, they form cysts, which is where you and I are having problems. Since the ovaries are outside of the uterus in the abdominal cavity, the peritoneal fluid in the abdomen is what "washes away" the cyst, as you put it.
I hope you get some answers as to what is going on with your cysts. And it wouldn't hurt to call your doctor and report your other symptoms, just to be on the safe side.
Hugs,
Lisa
