I joined the y a little over a month ago and have been doing cardio(treadmill) for thirty to thirty five minutes five times a wk. I have been set up on the machines for wieght training and and do that three times a wk. I really don't see any difference. I feel better but I can't see any weight coming off yet. At what point will i really start to notice? i also am watching what i eat. not anything drastic but no more french fries, potato chips, and i really cut out a lot of the carbs all together i was eating every day. i am trying to stick with chicken and veggies for big meals and really salads for lunch or a half of sandwich on multi grain bread. i work at a resturaunt so this has all been a big change for me. I just want to know when i might start looking like i am loosing weight. i am 5'6 and weigh 158 and am 31 years old. i need to get rid of at least 15 pounds for me to be happy. any advice?

Hi jessy28. It is good you are taking better care of yourself!
How active were you prior to joining the gym? It can take time. I think it is more important to go by how you feel and look and not so much by how much you weigh. Muscle weighs more than fat. You may notice that your clothes fit better or you are more toned even if you have not lost weight.
Make sure that over time you increase the weights and reps and the speed, time and/or incline on the treadmill. Make sure you are working out hard enough. Your body will get used to the same level. You may also want to try yoga or other classes in-between for variety and to change out your routines. You can ask a trainer for tips to keep your work-outs challenging.
It sounds like you are doing everything right. Eliminating processed carbs (white flour, white rice, potatoes, etc) and sugar can really help.
Make sure you are drinking a lot of water also.
Keep up the good work!

Seeing results takes time. 90% of working out is diet! It sounds like you have a pretty good plan so far. You may not notice weight loss at first......you may lose inches first, and you will notice your clothes will fit a bit looser. It can take a good 3 months before seeing any major results. Make sure you are getting enough protein.........eating at least every 3 hours.......increase fiber.........and ton's of water! It is soooooo hard to eat every 2-3 hours but it is important to keep your metabolism going throughout the day. Be patient..............you will see results, it just takes time! Your off to a great start!
