I have had diagnosed FMS for 7 years. Recently, I attributed a flair up to the damp cold weather we have had here in the Northeast. I suffer with pain all of the time, but the flair ups make it almost impossible to do anything. I am a charge nurse on a very busy unit and my life is hell when I am like this. Because of the "brain fog" I have with FMS,I started taking ginko biloba. I ran out several weeks ago and didn't have time to pick up more until several days ago. My flair up which coincidentally started right after I stopped taking the ginko, has subsided when it was restarted. I am caught between a rock and a hard place with pain management because I have a very poor reaction to narcotic pain meds and NSAIDS make my tinnitus problem worse. Another reason that I take Ginko. Has anyone else noticed this effect while taking ginko? I know that ginko helps circulation.
I'm just wondering if I may have stumbled onto something; or is this just a coincidence?

Hi and welcome, We didn't notice any difference while taking Ginko, but every one is different. My husband and I both have fms and other things. We have found a great doctor that is helping us. He is board cert. in Infectious Disease, cfs and fms. My husband is now taking concerta, with all the other meds, he takes just to stay awake. He started on Thanksgiving day. He says it has helped him. Pain wise have you seen a pain specialist or do you know one at work that uses both traditional and alternative methods? My husband has to take privacid. Good luck and again welcome, Kim

I have dabbled in herbs without much success. I tried the Cayenne for pain and St. Johns Wort for the immune system. I also tried Echinecea and Green Tea with ginseng.
