a friend of mine has told me several times about things he use to do to his dog,like putting laxative in his dogs food,etc.what would you call that kind of behavior,I mean besides disturbing

Abuse to animals usually indicates anti-social behavior. But to tell you the truth it could be in result to abuse of himself, hyperactivity, trauma, delusions, etc.

But I agree, it sounds like he is reaching out to you. Maybe you can dig deeper and he'll give you some kind of signs that something serious may be going on, or not.

p.s. I don't abuse animals, but I do tease them, and I don't have serious low functioning psychological problems. Laxatives may be as simple as fun (some people can't comprehend that animals are living creatures too).
