I developed IBS after taking Yaz birth control pill . I only go to the bathroom maybe once a week if I'm lucky. Also, has anyone noticed their PMS being worse ? I get much more bloated and more cramps then I did before I had IBS.

Cassie12290 - I used to think the same that the contraceptive pill I was on (which was dianete at the time) was causing IBS. I've suffered for the last 7 years and was only diagnosed last year that it actually was IBS as I had numerous tests carried out. I don't think it is the pill as I've changed from Dianete to Yasmin and Microlite and am now on the Patch which hasn't changed anything. I was prescribed "Colofac" which is prescribed by your GP. You take it an hour before you eat which helps relax the gut for digestion but doesnt stop it all the time and I don't like taking it too often although it is safe but I don't like coming too depend on medication. I hope this helps you. If anyone out there has any tips I'd really like some.

Ive been prescribed Colofac and it has made a small difference to my condition. In some cases oral contraceptive can aggrevate IBS so maybe you could try a different contarceptive to Oral and see if it makes any difference.
