I have been through all the medical steps known to attempt to cure this condition but after five years my doctor has put me on a dose of tramadol. This drug has worked really well for the first four months but now I am feeling the need to increase the dose to get the same effect. I don't want to slip inot a cycle of addiction with this drug and would like to alternate its use with another drug (a month on a month off kind of thing) to increase the drugs effectiveness and lessen the risk of addiction.
Ibuprofen and amitrpline (s.p) don't work at all for me. What other drugs are used to treat cases of CPPS that cause serious pain.

Hi Daniel,
welcome to the pain boards. I have taken tramadol for over a decade, I take it in conjunction with hydrocodone and baclofen. It works great for me, when I get a bad flair, my old doctor used to replace the hydro with percocet. Not sure what the new guy will do, it hasnt come up yet.
Like you, the tramadol worked great for me for awhile, but then I realized I needed something else. the combo has been great for me for many years.
Good luck, Fabby:wave:
PS~Eek! I just noticed, this is my 666th post. scary.
