I live in Southern Maryland. But have visited up and down the east coast. Would love to retire to the NC coast. Love the water and Kill Devil Hills.
I have another question that I would like to have an answer to. Some people might not want to, but what age are the people on the FMS website. I am 52 years of age and had my very first symptoms when I was 25 years old. Of course back then they weren't sure what I had. It would come and go until 1994 when it decided to become a HUGE part of my life.

I'm 45 min Northweast of Philly. I can't say that this speaks well of Philadelphia, but it is nice to know that we can report on the best doctors in the area.

Just found this message board tonight, so that makes me a newbie.

A newbie that's on the West Coast. 20 minutes north of Seattle.

There is a non-drug clinical trial underway for FMS at the Univ of WA. I'm supposed to be participating in it, I just need to get medical clearance from my PCP and a cardiologist.

Hi everyone,

I'm from Durham, North Carolina but now live in Hillsborough - about 15 miles west of Durham (a small historic town). I work in Research Triangle Park. I too want to retire to the coast of North Carolina!!

My symptoms began in 1981 but were not recognized by a doctor until 1989 - this was extremely painful and frustrating time.

I was 32 - I am now 51 and have definitely seen progression. I do not let fribro get me down though - I keep truckin along fighting this dreadful disease!! It beats me in the ground some days - but I kick back and keep fighting!!

Welcome aboard. One of the offices that I worked for had research work done by RTI, so am familiar with it. Also have relatives that live outside of Durham. My husband and I went through when we went to Raleigh and then to coast. We visited friends in Fuquay-Varina (where?!?). You'll find a lot of good information on this site, and better yet a lot of good friends.

Newbie here. Guess where I'm from? About 30 min. west of..........Philadelphia. LOL! Hi everyone, I've been avoiding the chats because I'm really ticked about this diagnosis and was hoping that everything would go away if I ignored it long enough. HA! Sigh. Nice to see that I have company although reading your posts has left me confused, everyone seems to be on different medications and I don't see anyone posting about exercise. My rheum. says it will help me feel better, so far it's just helped to knock out my back and knee even further but I'm still chuggin' along....huffing and puffing and cursing the entire Physical Therapy profession.......
