Hi - My husband's white blood cell count was 20.1. They still don't know what's wrong with him yet. After 10 days on Levaquin his wbc is 14 (normal is under 10). His doctor mentioned leukemia but we don't know what he's talking about until the next appt. My question is: does anyone know if that expensive antibiotic would have lowered his wbc IF HE HAS leukemia? It seems to me that if you have leukemia, an antibiotic would not lower wbc, but I don't know. Thanks for any ideas. Sister.

id say theres a pretty good chance the levaquin did lower it. levaquin, cipro, avelox all come from the fluroquinolone "antibiotic" family. they work like a chemotherapeutic agent. nothing like the list of side effects are endless; hundreds. and relatively common. very dangerous drug. theres lots of information out there. i had a severe reaction to avelox (same family as levaquin) in which i tore several tendons, severe widespread muscle pain, skin disfigurement from sjs/phototoxic burns. nerve damage, hearing loss, tremors, dna change, liver problems, heart problems, the list goes on and on. levaquin can cause anything imaginable, so i would bet on it being the cause in my opinion. levaquin may be expensive but its poison.
