I'm a 20 year old student, and for the past couple of years have had issues with anxiety (no full blown attacks or anything, just an uhealthy amount of constant stress/fear/worry).

I get heart palpatations, and for a while now these always freak me out every time one occurs.

Earlier, I was sitting and reading when an overwhelmingly strange sensations occured. I'm sorry that I can't really describe it, but it was sort of like I was losing consciousness and possibly getting dizzy. Whatever it was, I had to close my eyes and stop reading. It immediately invoked an extreme sense of panic and fear, and I truly thought that something was happening to my heart, so I immediately jumped up and walked quickly to a phone across the room. I stood there for a couple of seconds and tried to calm down, and it eventually subsided and I was just left with a rapid heartbeat, which eventually subsided as well.

I'm sure you may know this all too well, but it was an extremely frightening thing. I was obviously pretty terrified, so I can't really recall exactly what all symptoms were, but I think that I may have also thought/felt that my face was numb. I wasn't stressed out at the time, just relaxing and reading. Very strange, and scary. Can anyone offer any advice? Does this sound like something anxiety related? Thank you.

It sounds like a panic attack to me.

Panic can set in without stress or excessive thinking.

You should get a check up and let your doctor know what is going on.

Sounds like panic attack to me too.The sudden odd sensation is alot of times the beggining of an attack. The fast heart beat, and numbness (could of been due to breathing wrong/hyperventilating)...all anxiety/panic symptoms. You should go get checked out to be sure.
