got my results back yesterday, concerned bc i think my ldl is high and they sd its not and wont put me on meds anyway here are my numbers, let me know what you think:

total cholestrol 187
hdl 52
chol/hdl ratio 3.6
ldl 114
triglycerides 104

also my glucose was 101 and range was 65-99

The cholesterol is fine - no need for medication there. But your blood glucose, if that was a fasting test (before eating in the morning), suggests that you are pre-diabetic. :(

yea i was fasting, i also looked back at my bloodwork from 5 yrs ago and it was 101 at that time but the range was 60-120 back then

Your numbers are fine RC, better than fine actually...and a nice ratio.

I wouldn't worry too much about a recurring 101 fasting serum glucose unless I had a sibling or a parent with diabetes.

If you are overweight, then lose weight but otherwise just monitor your BG at every blood draw.

how do you calculate vldl and what are the normal numbers? thanks

VLDL is very ROUGHLY calculated by dividing triglycerides by 5...remember I said ROUGHLY.
Thus witha "normal" triglyceride of 100 the normal VLDL would hover around 20.
