Hi all Im so nervous about a sexual encounter that I had 2 days ago. I had sex with a female I have known for about a week. I used a condom but it broke so I was exposed for a bout 10-30 sec. The next day I noticed that the head of my penis was very sore. I didnt want to jump the gun so I relaxed. Then on the second day I noticed that I had a red area on the bottom of my penis head. About 1 and a half inches. It does not hurt but is irritating to touch. I also see some small red bumps. I am so scared that this may be herpes. Im not sure of the time line in which the first herpes symptoms would surface but Im am scared to death. Anyone with any kind of advice or who has been in this situation please tell me what this could be. Thanks alot.

Well, I'm no expert, but I believe it takes at least 3-4 days before you show signs (if you show signs) after first exposure. For me it was 4 days.
It may very well not be herpes, but it could be some other kind of STD. I'd definitely see your doctor right away. If it is herpres, you want to see your doctor while you are still showing active symptoms, so make an appointment ASAP.
Good luck

Would I have any other kind of Symptoms if this is herpes? The rash is like a small spot around around the rim of the head of my penis does this sound like herpes to you?

Hey Ducky,
We’re not doctors here. Make yourself an appointment and go get it checked out. Its that Simple.
The virus reacts different with each and every one of us. What are symptoms for you is not for another.
Its probably just paranoia and some irritation.
Since noticing this on yourself did you happen to ask the woman if she had anything that she knew of???

Hey -
The doctor is of course going to be the person who diagnoses you. However, in the meantime, you can find pictures of genital and oral herpes for both men and women on various websites. It doesn't cover all the different symptoms, and the pictures can be extreme, but maybe it will help you.
Just do a search for "herpes pictures" and you'll get something.

well looks like you need some advise. Look, go to a doctor and get it checked out right away, nothing is more painful than knowing you could have treated it if you had gone to the doc sooner! I have heard of this before from a friend and it does not seem to appear until like 4 to 6 days after, but ofcourse i dont have it, yet a close friend does. Just relax and chill, i can think of how scared you really are, go to the doctor, it's your best bet!!!

I agree with the rest of the posters here, go see a doctor, asap. Alot of times, you can drive yourself crazy, by playing "what-if" also, it's way too stressful. Just take a deep slow breath and call your doctor's office and make an appointment. I've read that herpes can show in 2-10 days, mine appreared at about the 8 day mark. And it did resemble some of the herpes pictures, that you can find online. But, mine has never looked as bad as some of those pictures (as she knocks on wood) Find out first what it is and then deal with it. Keep in mind it's NOT a matter of life or death.
Hang in there, -Ornament
