I had a violent coughing/choking attack at work believed due to post nasal drip. No cold at the time. some days later I experienced dull aching pain in my chest (sternal area) up my neck involving my ears. Also coincidentally the inner side of my left forearm. Bizarre. Had stress test, ekg and ct scan all normal. MD thinks reflux but GI MD said poss all muscular from such violent choking and attempting to get my breath. Anyone have this???? It's much better now, nearly 2 mos after, but walking too fast or too far, bending way over and lifting or carrying things brings it on. Very frustrated.

I have the same thing, it seems to bother me when I am lying down as well, walking or running feels like someone is stabbing me in the upper chest, it feels like my esoughogus, I have GERD so this is what it has been attributed to, PPIs help, but I go on and off of those, so the pain always returns.

thanks fo replying (misery loves company) does the pain ever go up from your chest area to include dull aching in your jaw or ears?

I have pain in my ear (usually just the left but sometimes both) often and my eustachian tube feels blocked most of the time. Also my jaw will ache as well as the back of my neck and shoulders. Sounds like referred pain.

sounds familiar. When I walk too far I start with the pain and also when I lean down and forward as if to pick up a baby from low down, it starts. Frustrating. Other motions are good now except for those two. I can lie flat in bed with no problems. Poss the pain I've felt the past month and a half is actually burning from GERD but rather than a burn it's more a pain.
