So how tight are casts supposed to be? Mind you when I got it on, there was some swelling that day. But now I can move what *I* think is quite a bit in the cast. I can somewhat role my ankle around, I can wiggle my foot out to where the entire ball of my foot is out of the cast, and the top of it, I can fit most of my hand down it.. this is all when the swelling is down.

I was put in a cast after breaking my 5th metatarsal. The swelling was significant at first and after 4 days needed a new cast because the swelling had subsided some and my foot was moving around too much. My casts were changed about every 3 weeks for 15 weeks because of the gradual decrease in swelling. You may need to talk to your doc and let him/her know that your how much movement you have. He may want to change the cast if your foot is supposed to be truly immobile. Good luck!!
