My hubby received a letter from our senator stating that SSD informed him that hubby's file is in "pre-hearing review". I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this means? Are we getting closer to a hearing date? Hopefuuly so, sure has been a long wait...

Thank-you in advance,
Nancy

I am not an expert, but from what I know--it means that the judge is looking over your case. Sometimes, he/she can make a decision without you having to go for the hearing. At any rate--I do believe it means your much closer to your hearing--if you have to go. Good Luck and God bless. Belle

Hi Nancy,

After reading your post, it reminded me of what happened to my husband's SSDI case file. He too was denied twice, getting himself prepared with an attorney for a hearing with an ALJ, then low and behold, we received LONG, LETTER from an attorney affliated with SSD office, reversing their OwN decision twice stating all the facts, and WHY my husband should have been GRANTED during the initial stage. From that expereince, I do beleive, SSA does go over cases before reaching the ALJ stage, although I'm not exactly sure. Hopefully a similar situation will happen to you as well. Keep looking up, and do alot of praying....Vergie

Thanks for the responses. Believe me when I say that I pray every night before going to sleep about his SSD case. He has become a completely different man since not being able to work and having to depend on me to support him. Hopefully when this is all said and done I will get my hubby back{if he is approved}. He just feels useless and I guess I would too if I was in his shoes. I sure wish he would get approved without the hearing because it is gonna be difficult for him to ride the 100 miles to the hearing site, but we will do what we have to do.
Everyone take care and God Bless,
Nancy
