Hi. My name is Dan, I used to be a Police Officer in Philadelphia. My back was injured by being dragged by a car while making an arrest. I've had 2 microdiscectomies at the same level L5-S1. I have no relief of back pain, I still have some sciatic pain, but my back is what drives me insane. THe Police Department deemed me disabled and put me out for good. Now I need to find a good pain Doc in my area that accepts workers comp.(Philadelphia or suburbs of) I would like a doc that will prescribe the proper meds to control my pain for now, but also help find the cause and hopefully a solution to this ungodly debilitating daily pain. I paid an Ortho Doc out of my own pocket to look at my mri's and such, and he said the only thing that would probably help me is a fusion, but he said most likely no doctor wouold due that at my young age of 34!!???!! Please help! Any info is greatly appreciated.

Dying for relief,
Daniel

Hey Dan ,

I don't understand why the doctor's won't do a fusion if you need one ? There has been alot of younger people than that fused ? Being younger is a good thing , the younger people fuse faster. I had my fusion 4 years ago. No I'm not fused . They tried 3 times to get me to fuse and my body just won't do it..I don't even smoke , never did ?

Anyway , My surgeon out of Berwick PA. is moving his office to Philly.
His name is Dr.Gerard Foti , he's not there yet but by mid sept he will be.
He is a great spine specialist with a fellowship of the spine..Make sure you try to see this guy...He's not scared to try new things. As far as pain management Dr.s good luck . They don't like to give much for pain here in PA. thanks to the people who abuse them .
