View Full Version : To sleep.......or not to sleep...........

And THAT is the question. How many of us have sleep problems? I am curious not just about insomnia and not getting to sleep but also about dreams, talking or walking in your sleep.

I was finally getting SOLID,restful sleep with the Celexa. It appears that the Celexa has totally crapped out, it's been dialing down over the last 2 weeks and I've been getting less and less good sleep. I'm going to call my doc on Monday (they aren't in on Friday) and see what she wants to do with my meds. It seems that when I lose the sleep, my pain increases 10X, I can't cope with the day to day stuff and I am more forgetful, off balance and irritable (big surprise,HA). I also cannot do nearly as much exercise, I did less than 5 min on the ex.bike the other day and just couldn't do any more. I was up to an EASY 20 min just the week before. It went downhill that fast! I'm still exercising but have cut down to simple stretches and very short bike workouts.

I have a history of long term sleep problems. Problems getting to sleep, staying asleep, sleeping well and a lot of problems with vivid dreams and talking in my sleep. On the Celexa, the talking got so bad(or good) that my hubbie was reporting back entire paragraphs of talking and was able to tell me in detail what I was dreaming about. That's the worst it's ever been. One night I thought he was someone else (while I was asleep) and punched him out. Some of my dreams are SO vivid that I remember the entire dream and they stick with me for a long time. I also have repeat dreams, I'll dream the same thing over and over, sometimes over periods of years.

I'm curious how many of you ladies and gents have sleep problems!

Well you know I did Cioc, but now I sleep like a baby, and other than a new med, I cant see any help for you. You tried all the usual stuff, Melatonin, Benadryl, Valerian, relaxation techniques, Amitriptyline??

Hi Gracie, everything but the Valarian. It's not just getting to sleep, it's when I do sleep that I don't sleep well, I wake up with a sick headache and feeling exhausted. The Celexa was like a dream come true but now it's stopped working. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

hi cioc1212,

I pretty much have the same sleep patterns. er, had. I use trazadone for sleep (LOVE it!), but after about 6 months, had to double the dose, and so far so good (maybe 8 months now).

difference between us is i LOVE my wild dreams! I have such wonderful adventures, it's a gas. I have the recurring one, too, but now I look forward to it. I've kind of taken it on as a message of sorts of something I need to complete - I'm always trying to get to a particular place in mine but have horrendous obstacles to get past. I finally just started looking at it as a sort of healing path I need to walk, and the obstacles are my real life hurdles to overcome. feels like if i reach the dream target, i'll reach it at this level, too. it's a fun theory and game anyway.

hmmmmm, guess i'm on a 'talkie' this AM - please excuse the ramblings....

Copper, I have about 15 or 20 repeating dreams, some from my earliest childhood that still occasionally pop up. My dreams lately seem to be just reliving my day but in bizarre ways so it seems more tiring than anything else. It's also disconcerting because sometimes I can't figure out if I did or said something in real life or in my dream.......it's never been like that before, there was always a clear line between sleep and awake.

I've also been waking my husband up between 4am and 6am because I'm talking, laughing, crying or punching him. Poor man.

Cioc - I never have dreams, when I fall asleep it is like death. I don't know if I reach the deep level of sleep they say you should, but I can't remember the last time I had a dream. As far as As I know I don't talk in my sleep.

Just a thought...Maybe you can use the talking in your sleep thing to your advantage http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif You said your husband listens to you talk...when you are asleep it would be a good time to suggest the new coat you want or the cruise you have been yearning for http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif Just a thought http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Ha ha, very funny Kat! When I was pregnant, I craved T-bones and lobster, http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif and it worked like a charm. I'll have to try the I dream of.....jewelry and vacations.
