Now I have a rip-snortin' cold...which leads me to ask all you veterans of Fibro wars. Do illnesses like flue and colds feel worse if you have the big F? Does it take you longer to recover? Are we more likely get sick? Years ago I thot the "common cold" gave me aches: now with Fibro and cold the aches and sore throat are monumental. I better sign off before I sneeze all over this site, Al
Allen, Oh yes. I get really sick. That is not too much though any more. That I get sick with the flu or colds. I did in my under fourty days.

I have felt like I have the flu for the past week, but it is just the cold and dampness of the warmer weather and the rain. When I was first diagnosed with FM I had very bad boughts with bronchitis. I would sweat and freeze and ache all over. I went through all the pajamas I had in one day because I would take meds, fall asleep, wake up soaking wet with sweat and freezing like you do when you break a fever, less than 1/2 hour later i would be running a high fever again and start all over. The nurse at work said "that doesn't sound normal," DUH! I have the most awful time keeping a steady body temp. I am cold even in the summer unless it is 90 out I am cold. In the winter you can forget it I never get warm. As far as being sick alot; I have not been as sick in the winter over the past few years, I say it is because I quit getting a flu shot every year, and I will never get another one. I have not had a bad cold this winter, only a slight head cold. I believe you get sicker with FM, heck everything else we get is more intense than someone without FM.

Katt, I use to go through the sweats, chills and fever all the time and would look sunburned not badly unless I was walking around. It just stopped one day. This FMS is very strange.

I can remember some years when I would get a sore throat that I couldn't even swallow water because of a cold that I had. This year my doctor recommended that I get a flu shot. She said that there was no sense in suffering worse than we already do. Thank god for understanding doctors. Don't feel as bad, but the tiredness is more than I have ever felt.
Yes, over the years it has become harder to get moving. I got the flu shot about 11 years ago and got the flu. Never had one since. I have had almost all the other Vacines.

Any time I get any kind of illness my FM goes into overtime. A little sore throat and every muscle in my body hurts and my joint are the worse.
