Are we to be on a specific diet or are there any food restrictions?

I am new to this and am not sure if there are any foods out there that may make us feel worse or increase seizures.

Thanks for any information.

Hi Jane,

I have never had any food restrictions that could cause
me to have seizures.Maybe for some if they have high
blood pressure or diabetes that can sometimes bring on
seizures.I do know that aspartame in alot of your diet
sodas and foods can bring on a seizure.I do stay away
from diet sodas,just in case.

Take care,Sherri

Thank you so much for your response.

I have found that after I eat pasta, potato or rice I feel really dizzy and I just don't feel good. Was wondering if there was some kind of connection.

I am having such a hard time with this recent diagnosis and making some changes in my life to accomodate. It really is hard to deal with.

Some medications recomend keeping away from specific products (grapefruit is a common one) . Read the printout with your med/s and see if it states anything to avoid. HOWEVER I will comment on that in my experiences.

From what I have found out on my own with TegretolXR, one of my meds. They recomend people on it stay away from Grapefruit juice. I found out you can have it as long as you don't take it with the med or close to the time frame of the med. This spacing means a few hours IN MY CASE. You don't want the juice causing adverse effects on the casement of the medication.

As for food reactions I never had problems with that before, on any of the medications or combo's of meds.

Jane,

Just thought I would comment on the pasta, rice, potatoes
incidence with you.My mom does have diabetes and all those
that you stated(too many carbs)can even make my mom's
sugar go sky high and she will sometimes feel a little dizzy.
Have you ever had your sugar checked, they say that diabetes
can cause seizures.I am not a doctor by no means, just thought
I would let you know some of my family's experiences. My mom's
doctor did tell her because I have Epilepsy that there is a small
chance she could have a seizure if her sugar was to ever get too
out of control and she was having a bunch of anxiety attacks for
years before the right doctor diagnosed her with the diabetes, but
she has never had a seizure yet.

Take care,Sherri

Thank you Sherri. Apreciate your input.

I have been cjecked in the past but not in a while. I will talk to my doctor about that in the morning at my visit.

I have found that diet is helping play a huge part in helping my daughter fight her seizure disorder. There is evidence that removing gluten, casein, soy, and corn helps many. There are many sites that will confirm this.
