I've been on yasmin since July 9th of this year. It seems to be working pretty good in controlling my periods. My periods are shorter in days but still a bit heavy, but its still good. I do however start getting a few cramps about two weeks before my period, but thats normal for me. My only problem is, is my mood swings. Now I have always been an emotional girl but things have gotten worse since being on the pill. I get into these horrible moods, were I don't really wanna be around anybody and I take things out on mostly my boyfriend and I feel so BAD about it that I start crying. Just the other night, I was with my boyfriend and his sister in the city and I had a horrible headache and cramps, and I just didn't wanna be around him and I kinda put a damper on the rest of the night. And then when things seem to get better, I just made things worse and went straight back to being mean and crying. My mom just thinks I was over tired as I was out everynight last week and out the whole weekend and got very little sleep. Plus I also get up at 6:30am Mon-Fri for work. I took yesterday off from work because I was going to be home too late Monday night, so I rested yesterday and I seem to be better today.
Is there anything I can do about my mood swings while on the pill? Like any vitamins that could help? I just hate to have to start over with a new birth control pill, because Yasmin is helping me alot with my periods, I'm just suffering with my moods.
Thanks!!!

Talk to your doctor about vitamin B6, to see what does she think. It helped me.

Thanks. Is that only available by a prescription or can I get that over the counter?

Also, give the pill some time. The first three months people see a lot of side effects that then disappear.

Yes I agree to wait a few months and see how you are then. Try taking a Vitamin B complex. You can buy these at drugstores or even the grocery store. Multivitamins usually have Vitamin B6, but the Vitamin B Complex will have much more of it. I have mood problems too but I had them even before the pill so they aren't related! I have heard that the Vitamin B6 will help if it is pill related. Good luck!

I know you might not want to switch pills, but I was having similar problems and it helped me :)

Definitely take the B complex when you're on the pill. Birth control pills deplete the B vitamins. I've had depression on the pill before and taking the B complex really helped me.
