I am having another flare up with my GERD:( ...does anyone get really achy and tired when they are battling a bad bout of GERD? I am also having the pain in the middle of chest and back between the shoulder blades. This GERD stuff really sucks!

I have noticed that when my LPR is at it's worst I feel drained and achy, like I'm coming down with a cold. Don't know why for sure but it makes sense that if you're battling an illness and such a chronic one as this, you'll feel run down from time to time.

chronic pain is exhausting and your digestive system is the hub of your well being, so yes I think it sounds right on track. I am battling gerd and esophogitis myself, it sucks!

thanks for the posts guys....i am in the middle of a bad reflux flare up, i am getting sooo tired of trying to lie in bed only to wake up around 2am because the pain between my shoulder blades wont let me sleep. i get up and walk around and burp alot, which temporarily relieves the pressure.i end up sitting on the couch or in the lazy boy trying to get some zzz's. anyone know anything that eases this pain? i would love to just sleep in my bed like a normal person! it has been this way for almost a week now! :(

Are you doing all of the "normal" things??? Raising the head of your bed up or sleeping with your head elevated. Not eating before bed, my doctor said even drinking too much water before bed can cause a problem..
Some folks have luck with taking Zantac before bed or DGL licorice(that is my choice).
I know how you feel, when the GERD/LPR is bad I feel crappy and my anxiety get worse too. I feel like mine is worse in the evening and night..
Anyway, best of luck!!! Take care of you!

This is a long shot, not uncommon, but still a long shot. Have you seen a yeast specialist? I think even an endoscopy can provide u with the info. but a lot of gastros still miss it because they go to fast. Yeast causes heartburn, indigestion...etc...like I said a long shot. If you are on steroid pumps or have been on a lot of antibiotics u should consider this a possibility. Good luck. I hate gerd and have esophogitis and I am actually being treated for yeast right now, but I thought I would share.

right now i am only taking zantac 150 in the morning and 150 at night. i also take the gaviscon tablets at night before bed. Most of the time it is very controlable and even months that i dont have to even take the zantac, but it seems that my reflux and GERD is brought on by alot of stress, at least that is what i am starting to notice....does anyone else take Gas-X or similar? I am wondering if that would relieve the pressure? i just wish i could burp 24/7 because it feels soo good!

Gas-x does a great job of controlling my burping. I also take zantac 150 every day. I also use a bedge pillow.

Yes, yes, yes. It's like I have the flu all the time. In fact, when all this started I did have a cold (or thought) that just didn't go away. I'm having a bad flare now sound like I'm very sick with a cold. Don't feel good, achey, and don't want to get up in the morn.

well everyone i actually had a full nights sleep in my bed! what i did that seemed to work was about and hour before bed i had a nice hot bath, then when i was sitting in bed watching tv i got the magic bag and alternated between my back and my stomach. it really seemed to ease the pain! oh i also drank half a 591ml of gingerale and walked around abit, which brought up alot of gas. don't know if this will help everyone but i thought i would share!
