A few weeks ago I was constipated. I added more fiber to my diet and my consipation went away. Since then my stools have been normal. I have noticed that since that time there has been something coming out of my butt whenever I have a bowel movement. Sometimes it itches and other times it is just there and doesn't bother me at all (except for the fact that it is there). I don't have to push it back in because it goes back in itself after a few minutes. There is no blood. This lump is flesh color. It also doesn't come all out all the time, but there is at least some of it coming out after every bowel movement.

I did some research online and found that it could be a hemmorhoid or rectal prolapse. Anyone have any ideas on what it is? I am 21 years old if that means anything. I don't like going to the doctor especially for something like this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

Wow---didn't think there was anyone out there with the same problem!!! I'm much (way) older then you (46) but experiencing the same thing. I do have multiple sclerosis....so if it's a rectal prolapse then I know that this does sometimes happen in people with neurological diseases. It bothered me enough to go to my gyno...and she has referred me to a colon/rectal surgeon. I know just what you're feeling, for sure. It's very uncomfortable, also. Did you call your doctor? I hesitated...for a bit, because it is soooooooooooooooooooooo embarrassing and hard to talk about. My regular doctor is a man, so that's why I elected to go to my gyno about it..(woman). I felt it would be easier for me.
I don't know anything of course yet..............appt . is in Sept. but please know that you're not alone. If it is a prolapse and not something else, everything I read states that the earlier it's corrected...the easier it is. I don't want a full surgery, so I will do everything to avoid that if possible.
Please feel free to post.........as I too feel alone and need someone to talk to about this strange thing!!

I know how you feel about it being embarrassing. My primary is a woman, but she is only in the office a few days a week. I could go to the male doctor, but, like you said, it is embarrassing, but I also don't want to go to him because I don't trust him. I have been doing some online research about this problem. I know it doesn't replace going to see a doctor, but it has helped put my mind at ease. From what I have found, it looks like mine is a prolapsed hemmorhoid instead of a prolapsed rectum. I saw a picture online (it was gross, but helpful). I read that a prolapsed rectum is bright red and sticks out of the whole anus. A hemmorhoid, as I read (and saw) really only affects the edge of the anus. From what I saw it really does look like mine is just a hemmorhoid. I am going to have to make an appointment to see my doctor soon for something else, so I am going to talk to her about it then. I hope that everything goes all right with you. Keep me posted.

Hi to all,i am 60yrs old, and have had a bowel problem for the last 8 years. It started out with an itchy bottom after a bowel motion. I found by washing my bottom after a bowel motion, prevented the itch.but this only helped for couple of years more. As time went on, i found just washing my bottom was not doing the job,so i started inserting my finger in to my rectum, while taking my shower to clean out any poo, this was the only thing which gave me relief and stopped a leakage problem that was now starting to happen.Any way after all these years of suffering i told my doctor about the problem,he did not examine me,but gave me a form to take to the pathologist. This was a bad idea, as they requested me to do a sample test of my poo every day for one week, and store them in a cool place, not to mention all the foods i had to avoid before and during all this procedure.I was really freaked out as i suffer from ocd, and thought the whole process was too much for me to handle,so i did not do it. Any way a couple of more years passed, and that doctor moved away so i started going to one of the other doctors which was in the same practice. After going to him about a year,i confided to him all of this problem. He examined me gently in my back passage, and informed me i had a small prolapse of the bowel, and very big piles, which would be to big for banding .He has wrote to the health department requesting a colonostopy for me,and find out what is all going on,and today i am having a catscan of my pelvis area.I have been drinking this white stuff ugh, before i go to the xray place soon.Bye for now bess01.
