I got a script last saturday on the 4th. My own insurance company doesn't even know that its been FDA approved for Fibro.
My Dr's office is jumping thru hoops, I just had to email my Drs office with the pre auth form from my health insurance website cause she couldn't find it!
I read so many are getting it for ANXIETY DISORDERS!!!!!! And I can't get it approved for my Fibro. Im am at my wits end..........
If this continues I'm going to ask the nurse if there is something else the Dr can try on me until my Lyrica gets approved.

How are your efforts to get lyrica going?
I am in the UK and it is used regularly for fibro pain. I take it three times a day and am now clueless as to how much more pain i would be in without it.
good luck and i hope you can get it soon. If not something similar to help.

Not good, still havent gotten anywhere after 2 weeks. Appearantly my insurance co still doesn't know its been FDA approved for Fibro. Have NO clue how this is.
Also me and the nurse do not understand why I cannot get it but many are getting this drug for anxiety!!!!!!!!
I have my vicodins for real bad days, but nothing for the rest of the time. And the 5mgs of vicodins only work for about 3 hours and I'm only allowed one a day!

Sorry it is taking so long to get the meds you need. I live in the uk where it is accepted as a drug for fibro. Keep us posted as to how you are progressing, and ill keep my fingers crossed.

I just got mine approved (I live in the US). I was told by a nurse that it's hard to get approved, since generally insurance companies want to give you generics. But it's a new drug so... there are no generics.
That is weird, I thought it was rather publicly announced that it had been FDA approved. From what I understand (via googling) it's prescribed a lot as an anti-seizure med? Again, weird, because it exaggerates my spasms.

From what I've read its not a new drug...its just new for Fibro patients.
They are still having problems getting the pre authorization form to my insurance co. The fax never gets there. My husband got so upset on Friday he paid for the script! There went 139.00, but he's tired of them playing games with my pain.
I'm on day two of Lyrica.....I want to sleep all day, can;t keep my eyes open...also I feel like I'm in zero gravity. I will not drive on this med until the effects go away...lol
I have found though, I cannot wait 12hrs between pills...........I take the first one at 8am....by 4:00 my pain comes rushing back and its worse than before..the burning and aching througout my body.
I will be having a little chat with the Dr though on the 8th. They told me (the nurses) that they emailed him three times, printed out a letter to him and put it on his things to do pile and not once did I hear from him. He gave me vicodins to take once a day for SEVERE pain .... well I had nothing else, Ive been in severe pain since the 4th(when he was messing with my neck and it thru me into a horrible flare). It would only last 3hrs then the pain would come back. I needed more than one pill a day.
On Friday I called, and the lady said I will call over to him...I said I guess I won't be hearing from you at all....she said dont' worry you will hear from me today...umm call never came!!!!!!!!!
Drs need to be in pain like us I believe.

Now I have to come off of them.....luckily its only been a few days, I'm hoping for zero withdrawls.
