:( Okay i have poasted around here somewhere, but i am gonna start all over and see what someone might come up with for me! I started two years ago with mild low left side and hip pain i was told by my regular dr. that my hip doesn't rotate and they sent me on my way and check to make sure there was no arthritis. Then i worked and as i worked my hip and back pain got very very sore then i had a fall last year in the winter, and then i worked again and got even weaker and fell this year and ever since then i have had very bad leg pain, weakness, numbness, creepy crawling sensations, left leg warmer than right, heaviness, , and some balance issues off and on, tingling, muscle spasms, intolerant to heat, depression. Now the numbness stays and other symtoms come and go, i will have a good four days and i'm down again, the only back and hip pain i have now is sensitive to the touch. All tests come back such as MRI EMG since i fell normal. I am wondering if anyone can give me advice on what kind of Dr. i need to maybe see, before MOnday as i go see my regular dr. On MOnday, and i am seeing an Orthapedic dr. right now and he ordered the recent EMG and if i t came back normal i need to know where to turn? I have seen an Neurosurgeon in the past and becauses the tests come back negative he refuses to see me , wich is fine, i definetely dont want surgery i have kids to take care of so , don't need it dont want it, but i need to help them figure i guess what is going because theres gotta be a cuase in everything, and i am strong and i've tried to ignore it all and it's just not going away with rest, heat, ice , PT, injections, i have also saw a chiropractor for 8 weeks and he said the damage may already been done, and stated that it was the right side maybe effecting the left, could this be true and thier looking at the wrong side?. They say at some points it's gotta be a nerve but why isn't it showing up on tests, i have thought about MS but it doesn't seem to add up with that, it's been three months with out getting better and i just want to get better and need a dr. who will see whats going on!
Sorry so long, thanks to all who are pateint with me!

Hi Monkey. Has anyone suggested you find an Orthopedic Spine Specialist? This is an ortho with a fellowship in spine training and he works only with the spine; most of them are very good with finding out what is wrong. Has your doctor never suggested a myelogram? It seems perfectly obvious to me that if the MRI is coming back negative, the myelo is the next step. MRI's do not always show the problem, especially with nerves being involved, as it sounds like with you. You do need to find out which nerve is being pinched as nerve damage can become permanent.

My husband had an MRI that showed only a bone spur in his neck and that it wasn't pressing on nerves. However, his pain got worse and he talked the dr. into going in and taking the spur off. Lo and behold, when he got in there, 2 discs were ruptured! My MRI of the cervical showed 1 bad disc and as was the case with my husband, it turned out there were 2. And I could give more examples but I won't. If you like and trust the dr. you are with, ask him to order the myelogram. But, if he hasn't thought of it, I'd be a bit leary of sticking with him. Of course, that's your choice and only my personal opinion.

Good luck...and please let us know how you are doing.

Carol, thank you for your honest reply! I go this week and i will mention the Mylegram. Can my regular Dr. order this test also? I am seeing an Orthapedic Spine specialists right now, but my concern is that like i said he will push me aside when he sees the results of the EMG but like you said if hes a good one then he will try to get to the root of it! The thing that makes me crazy is that i slept with the heating pad all night and woke up feeling good and hardly hurt with the pain meds, but if i stop any of this i get weak ect., or it gets worse at times no matter what i do , Wich also saying i have been through the Pt for two and half months and quit going due to financial and due to alot of people saying after this long why are you going as they don't know what thier treating you for ect. Go after they find the problem. And i know my biggest scare is the damage is gonna be permanent if they don't find it soon as this had progressed over almost two years with the last three months being the worst. I will keep communication open on all this as i feel the next step will be a brain scan, to make sure i'm not crazy ugh. If i had a MRI brain scan for balance and headaches a few years ago and i have another they would also be able to see the changes then might see if they do another to rule out ms right?

Hi there again gang, i am wondering okay today i have no numbness really, no pain really, but i had to go to the er last due to so much frickin pain and i got really sick, thier not sure why amd this might be a quetion on the ovarian board but maybe someone can enlighten me here first;) When i had my last MRI they accidently found cysts on both my ovaries now the dr. wasn't concerned but is sending me off to a gyno because of precancer hysterectomy and today i am having bad cramps in the pelvic area and all these doctors are saying the cycts would not cause all this back pain ect. I am kinda stumped on the fact that maybe the are enlarging and putting pressure somewhere, and it's wierd how i got sicker than crap yesterday and now the pelvic pain and no real leg pain ect. What do you if anything make of this?
