Hi .. My sister has had Lasik and then an enhancement. Her doctor is telling her she may need a 3rd surgery. It appears he may have over corrected her. She sees perfectly close up but everything 3 ft away is blurry. She is only two weeks out of surgery so we are hoping things will improve.

Has anyone had three procedures? .... We are SO worried!!

Thanks!!!

I have never heard of anyone having three procedures, but I'm sure it's happened before. If I were your sister though, I might consider seeing a different LASIK surgeon to get another opinion and see if they have any suggestions aside from a third surgery. If they suggest a third surgery too, maybe I would have a different surgeon do it the third time. I understand that some people need an enhancement, but another surgery after that because the doctor overcorrected her vision? I don't think I would let him/her near my eyes anymore, I think I would see someone else even if I had to pay. She's lucky if she even has enough tissue left for a third surgery, and this is her vision that they are playing with. I would strongly suggest she see someone else first, even if just for a consultation. I would also suggest she not rush into a third surgery only two weeks after the enhancement. Let her eyes heal a little bit and see if they get better. Best of luck to her!!!

She plans on waiting for several months before making any decisions. Thanks for the great suggestions ... I will mention them to her.

Thanks!

The under/overcorrectedness has to do with how your eyes heal, not really that the doc made a mistake. They go by computer generated blueprints of the eye and just basically plug numbers into the laser. They base these numbers on how the general population heals. So if you heal a little differently than the general public............. If I were your sister, I would probably go to a different opthamalogist for a consult, but going through another laser center means paying for the full procedure again. Unless she went through a center like TLC or LasikPlus that has centers all over the place. I had custom Lasik 2 weeks ago and am looking at an enhancement in a few months. I'm also concerned about getting over corrected next time  Good luck!!
