My doc just prescribed Tramadol 400mg per day for my Fibro nerve pain. I am very sensitive to medications and this does seem like a high dose. I have not started Tramadol , due to mail in pharmacy and have not received med yet.
I do realize not all meds react the same to all. Has anyone else been prescribed Tramadol for Fibro nerve pain and has this helped you?
I appreciate any responses here. Thanks

hello b happy

yeppers i have been prescribed tramadol for nerve pain. It does work but see how you go on it. As you said if you are sensitive its about finding the right level of meds for you.

Hope it helps

I have used this medication. It is strong for me, so rather than take the full tablet, I cut it in half. You won't know until you try it.

Blessings,
Kirstee

Thanks Kirstee & Ed for your response. I may have to do the same as you Kirstee with cutting pills in half. I'll have to use my own judgement i think to determine what dose i'm going to need with tramadol. Certain meds i just can't take, gotta give this one a try. Thanks again

I just wanted to let you know that I am on Tramadol. I take a 50mg dose 3x a day. The first month I was using it it was very effective, and I thought... wow, I'm going to be okay. Then I realized into the 2nd month that it's effectiveness was wearing off rather quickly. I know that I personally need something stronger because each day seems to get harder to get thru, but it may do just fine for you. I hope it does.

Hi BeHappy2 - I have been on Tramadol/Ultram for the past 2 years. I started off at 50mg every 4 hours, and worked my way up to 600 mg on a really bad day. But I develop tolerences to meds very quickly - so now I take the Tramadol on the better days and for the really bad days I end up taking one of these - Darvocet, Vicodin or Percocet. I definately recommend starting at the lowest dose and working your way up - especially if you are sensitive to meds. Hopefully the lower dosages will help you and you won't have to keep changing meds frequently! And of course I hope that your good days way out number the bad ones! Good luck!

Hi Knytrose & Ishla, I'm still waiting for my Tramadol to be delivered, so in the mean time i am still taking the darvocet. I will stop the darvocet when i get the Tramadol. I also take the flexeril for muscle relaxant so i hope flexeril & tramadol will be ok together. Been having major flares, hubby sick in & out of hospital so as we all know stress is a huge part of fibro. Thanks so much for your response here, willing to hear any suggestions.

I hope the Tramadol works for you. It would be a wonderful thing. Start at the low dose and see how you do. I was on it for a short time only b/c it did nothing for the pain. I try not to take all the pain pills I am prescribed in a day but when I do that I pay for it the next day. I am prescribes 6 pain pills a day, 4 muscle relaxers and 1 anti-inflammatory plus topamax for miagraines and then my bp meds. Its a nice little cocktail. I have to make light of it sometimes or I would just sit and cry. So I imagine it is one of those drinks on a beach with a little umbrella in it. That's b/c I don't drink.

Gentle Hugs and Good Luck!

Thanks Jenn, Yes i know all about that sit & cry thing, been there. I guess it's gonna take time to just get the right meds, if there is such a thing.
Great sense of humor you have, i dont' dare do the cocktail drinks either, no way. Thanks for caring.

400mg sounds way to much. I have been on it for three years. 50mg was fine in the beginning. try 50 to 100mg first. I got immuned to it after a while. It took several years though. So I have to take double the dose. I have to take 200mg when I get a bad flare up. So for someone who has been on it almost every day for several years, 400 is an awful big dose to start with.

I agree with the 400 mg dose as being too high. I take 50 to 100 mg along with 3 ibupropen and 1 to 2 tylenol. The tramadol by itself doesn't cut it for me. I, at times, get a very upset stomach and vomit the tramadol. If you are sensitive I suspect the 400 will upset you system. I also take it on a full stomach.

Thanks to all who responded here. I have started the Tramadol this week.
This is truly going to be one of the meds i may have to use my own judgement on. I have nausea stomach feeling, hopefully this will go away. Today i have had the headache that did not want to leave. Headache type when its best to just keep your eyes closed too painful to open eyes. Today i took 300mg tramadol , it's evening now and head pain has left but took till evening to leave. I'm wondering if the 300mg is what helped because i started at 100mg. I know i will have to lower the dose to see if the nausea feeling will ease. Doctor prescribed 400mg per day knowing i am sensitive to meds. Has the tramadol given any of you nausea, if so did you stop the tramadol or wait it out and continue ? Just being on this tramadol a short time i do not see any fibro pain relief, maybe its too soon for results?
I don't like messing around with doses but i think the 400mg is way too much at this time.
