Hi all!
I have been lately seeing flashing lights...on the periphereal sides of the my eyes...I see usually the color blue with a white light with it...and then it just flashes really quickly. and it sometimes happens several times..and then stops,...is this normal? I can't remember if it is or not...(I have diabetes type two...so would this be a part of this..or just me getting older here?)
thanks for the advice!

Not normal. Get to an eye doctor.

You really need to make an appointment. I have had similar problems for the last 2 months. It was first diagnosed as ocular migraines but I persisted that it was lasting so long. Saw a different Dr last week and found multiple things wrong with my eyes. I had an iridotomy done to release the Iris- it was pushing forward and not allowing the fluid to flow from front to back. He also noticed that the retina edges were frayed and that blisters were present. He is an opthamologist and wants to contact a retinal specialist. I have him puzzled.
Flashes from what I have read can be the Ocular migraine or a retinal problem. Since you have type 2 diabetes you are at greater risk. It's better to follow up w/ the Dr to be sure. Let us know what you find out. BTW I am only 30 so I wouldn't chalk it up to age!!!

i have been seeing flashes.. like sparkles, or fireworks, and streaks of white like lightning, or even flashes like a camera went off..

not constantly but evey so often numerous times per day

I called my opthamologist who was on vacation and the receptionist made me go to the hospital as it is signs of retina detachment. The said my retina was fine, but said i have something called PVD.. (something to do with the fluid in your eye pulling away from the retina) its a very common condition (in people over 60, I'm 29) and should go away. They said it was not ocular migraine becasue i've had it off an on for 3 weeks now... and i haven't had a distinct spot where i lost vision.. just the flashes.

get checked out.. sparks and flashes are defintatlye related to your retina.
