Hey, I've had a toe problem for a while now and I did go to the doctors ages ago and they said it was fungi however the stuff they presribed never worked and neither has anything else I've tried. Thing is it's getting really bad and I've not seen one like it before. It's thick, black/yellow, but growing in parts..like 6 parts (When I say parts I mean like 6 deep horizontal lines?) and has also been growing at an angle for a while so its like bending. It can't go on for much longer because it might start causing problems? Can doctors remove toe nails and another one grow back? It's really getting on my nerves and I can never show my feet, not even to my bf. Anyone got any suggestions? Or actually know it is fungi? I've not seen the whole growing in parts thing if that makes sense. I can't cut it and filing it doesnt seem to make much difference. It's so emmbarrasing, I'm gonna be emmbarrased going back to docs. Just want to get rid of the damn thing and its growing in the wrong direction.

A black discoloration is classic for a Pseudomonas Bacterial infection, not fungus. Go back to the doctor or see your dermatologist. Any change in the nail plate is cause for concern.

If it were toward the free edge, you could do something, but not as long as it is at the cuticle area. The infection may be in the nail matrix, and this will require medication.
