Hi all
Sorry I have not been around. I was hospitalized for severe pain as I could not walk. The did get me up and about and relatively pain free with the help of predensone.

The also found I may have graves disease. The may be hampering my recover as my body is over working itself.

Glad to be home hope all is doing well. Shawley hope your surgery went well. Pepper hope you are feeling better.

Be around more frequently now I hope.

I am glad to hear from you; I was wondering what you have been up to. Hopefully soon they can get you back on the road to recovery and on the heal. I know that it is no fun being in pain...

Please take care of your self...
I wish you nothing but the best.

Hi Clover. I'm sorry I haven't been reading this board much lately, so I am not up to date on your problems, but I sure understand the kind of pain that requires hospitalization to handle it. I ended up having surgery about 5 days after I got out ... tests showed lots wrong, including central canal stenosis, bone spurs, bulging disc, and spondylolithesis. The surgery with instrumentation went well and my pre-op pain is gone. Of course, I now have new problems, but that will be going on for the rest of my life, I know that.

I hope you are feeling much better. I'm going to try to be here more often. This is a good board, and I'm pleased to be a part of it.

Hey Clover , wondered where you were ! Sorry your having problems maybe now they can treat your pain since they have an idea whats wrong ?
Sorry you have other problems too. I never heard of Graves disease either .
Maybe Pepper can explain it here in your post. Does this cause your back pain also ? Welcome home and let us know what goes on with you.

Sooo sorry that things got so out of control....pain is no fun...but as long as they have gotten it under control...that is good... Seems like they get one thing settled...and another pops up. Sorry about the Graves. Just want to hear that you are doing well, feeling better.

Wow, Clover, I am so sorry to hear all this, you poor thing...
Graves is the auto-immune disease, affects thyroid gland; causes over-activity of the thyroid gland, another words causes hyperthroidism.
Clover, did they start you on medication from it? As far as I understand this condition can prevent you from sleeping, causing irritability - and all this can increase your pain too...
We missed you here, love to know you are back and hopefuly now you will feel a bit better.
Best of luck to you...

I also have Grave's disease and horrible problems with my cervical spine that I am just now getting into. Uggg.. In the past year I have had my gallbladder out and was treated with rai (radioactive iodine pill) to kill the thyroid gland for the Grave's disease. So I can totally understand your suffering from Grave's. It is a horrible disease when it wants to be.

A couple GREAT books on thyroid disease are, Thyroid For Dummies and also Could It Be My Thyroid.

Grave's Disease also attacks your muscles and causes bone loss when severe.

U might want to check out the thyroid board here it has allot of GREAT information and some real great people over there that know allot more about it than I do!

Clover,
I'm so sorry, but glad your home and that you have had some success in finding out what is going on in there. Hopefully now you can get some real medical treatment that will help you.

I haven't been on here the past week or so, had to get 3 stitches in my ring finger, closed it in the window, almost cut off a big chunk of it but they were able to save me from having a very ugly injury. It's a lil rough typing there for a while but it's much better now.

I will have to do some research on your new diagnosis too, I'm sorry your suffering so. It WILL get better.

God Bless

Carol

Hi clover, welcome back! Though sorry you had so much pain as to be hospitalized but maybe that's a good thing in a way, if they find you have another condition that should and can be treated. For all you know, that condition might be contributing to some of your pains. And with thyroid conditions, it can affect all sorts of different parts of your body. I wish you luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Everyone Sorry to worry all of you. I have been busy trying to keep the store where it should be and taking these tests for the graves.

My back is much better. I am still trying to find another Dr. Mine did come back but has little interest now. I have to get the tyroid stuff out of the way first then will probably go to Denver to a neuro.

I have some weird things going on with the spine. In the morning it has a buldge and I swear I can feel the head of a screw. After wearing the brace I am better and it is not buldging. I am still on predisone and it helps so much with the pain.

Thanks everyone for caring and sorry I have not been around just trying to get better. I haven't even checked my email.

Clover,
what do you mean when you are saying about "bulging"? I had for about 8 month (come and go, depends on a day) a very puffy, uneven area around my scar. Dr referred this as to a swelling area. That is what you mean? If yes, than it will take some time until it comes down.
Good day to you and best wishes on your recovery.

Hi Clover, glad to hear your doing better, wish I could give you some help on the Graves disease, but just educate yourself, keep us posted.

Thanks for all the caring and concern. I appreciate you guys so much. It makes all of this so much easier.

The buldging is I believe the colliapizing disc at the l4-l5 area. The stablization hardware is from l4-S1 but they left the disc's.

The predisone helps but I only have a couple days left on it. At least the leg pain and numbness is much better. The brace helps.

The other tests are going ok. showing high levels but not off the charts. So we will see.

I just feel so far behind at work but am taking it one day at a time. My vacation eariler in the month 11 days off was just too much and my employees took it as time to play. So I now have to be the bad boss and boy do I hate that.

Still looking for a new Dr. but my Dr doesn't know this yet. I have to have a Dr's office that is here is the Dr is out instead of referring me to the ER. They have 2 Dr's but the other one won't see my Dr's patients. Just weird things going on in that office I think.

Hope everyone is doing great and I will check in as often as I can.

love ya all. Thanks again

Clover, hope that you feel a bit better..it's hard, trying to work, and recover/and live with pain. I am watching how you find a new dr....I may be doing this myself soon. Take it easy...keep the pain down... Thinking of you..
