I started taking birth control pills (Ortho-Tricyclen Lo) on July 27th which is around the time I start my period. I started my pack before my period started though. I'm on my placebo pills and I still have not had my period. Is this normal? Is it because I didn't start my pills on the first day of my period?

I wouldn't be. There isn't anything to be worried about. You started the pill at the wrong time. It would be surprising if you DIDN'T have some weird cycles for a while. That's why they tell you to start when they do, so you could have avoided all of these problems. If you had an irregular period anyway, then it doesn't really matter when you started, because irregular stays irregular until the pill starts working on the cycle timing. But if your cycle used to be regular and you started the pill on the wrong day (as you did), then you're just going to have to stick it out until your cycle regulates again.
