I wanted to post a message about my lasik experience because I read a lot of messages on this board before I had my procedure done. Prior to having lasik, I was -4.50 in my right eye and -3.75 in my left. I had wore contacts for about 20 years and I was ready to get rid of them. I had the procedure done last Friday afternoon. I was a little worried about it because I had read about all the possible side effects that could happen. The procedure lasted about 8 minutes total for both eyes. It was completely painless. When I got up from the table, I could see the doctors and everything around me, they were just cloudy. My doctor had told me this would be the case before I had the surgery, so I was not worried. I went home and slept for about 1 1/2 hours and then went back to the office for the doctor to check my eyes and make sure everything was OK. He said everything looked good and that by Saturday morning, my vision should be improved. They gave me an antibotic drop and steroid drop to use 4 times a day for 4 days and Systane lubricant drops for dry eye. When I woke up Saturday, I was amazed at how well I was able to see. the cloudiness was gone and everything looked as good as it did with my contacts. I have not had any problems at all so far. My eyes have not even been dry, except for when I first wake up. I can go several hours without the lubricating drops, but I use them anyway because they want me to use them for the first couple of weeks regardless. I go in this Friday for my one week check-up and I can't wait to find out my results.
My doctor did tell me that my vision could change from day to day for the first several weeks, so I am prepared for that if it happens, but so far, it is great. Being able to wake up in the morning and see without glasses or contacts is priceless.

Thank you for posting. If you don't mind, could you tell us your age?

I had a very similar experience with mine. I'm 34 years old and had custom all-laser lasik surgery 2 days ago. I was -4.50 in one eye and -4.25 in the other prior to surgery. On the day after surgery, I was 20/25 in one eye and 20/30 in the other but was able to read the 20/20 line on the eye chart when using both eyes. I am very pleased with the results! Even if I don't see any further improvement, I'll be happy.
