Hi Everybody,
I am called Winnie and I suffer from fibromyalgia for about 17 years now. It started when I was 20 after I had a very bad car accident. The doctors haven't been able to help me much. I have heard all kinds of things like: forget about your past and you will be fine, Excercise more, Try to ignore the pain, it sounds like your addicted, you look good, we can't find anything in your xrays and tests, plus a bunch more crap!!!!! They have me taking methadone that is supposed to help the pain, vitamin B and Amitryptaline to help me sleep. Well, the methadone used to help keep the pain out of my legs, but that was about it and now it isn't working real well for that anymore. The vitamin B I don't know if it is helping but I probably do need it and it can;t hurt. The sleeping, I don't do much of. It takes forever to fall asleep and when I finally do it is for a half our to an hour and then I am awake tired, in pain, stressed because I need sleep, and just frustrated!!! Then on top of it all the people I love find it very hard to understand and sometimes I think they think I am exagerating or just don't want to get off the couch because I am lazy. I don't know what to do anymore and really have just about had it with everything!!! I have just started lessons at Silva Ultra Mind on how to meditate and get into the alpha level and deeper. It is supposed to help with pain and stress and figure out problems and a bunch of other things that sound really good. I hope that it helps with something!! Does anybody have any suggestions or found anything that helps you deal with or get rid of the pain and problems?? I would really appreciate any help or suggestions that I could get at all!!! Thank you for your time!
Winnie is going out of her mind!!!!!!!!!

 Hey Winnie, hold on to your mind Sweet, first Welcome to the boards, we've all been there for sure Winnie and it ain't easy, but now you've found fellow fibromites that know what it's like to go thru everyday with pain, fatigue etc etc :D I'm on amitryptiline as well, what dose you on? I'm 30mgs at night and still awake to the weeee little hours, hence Snoozyowl;) How long you been on the methadone and what dosage, it maybe time for a change in dosage or even pain med. Fibro pain doesn't really ever go away completely, but it is managable most of the time, flares not included. I have acupuncture on a regular basis and it really helps, I use a TENS unit at times and massage. I soak in seaweed baths, some of the girls use a hot tub, also good old heat pads, I think we all use them on a regular basis. Tests don't always show anything and docs don't know everything, I've never tried meditation, so I won't comment on that. I've tried tai chi and yoga both made me worse, now another fibromite Goldenwings is gonna send me the exercises that she has devised for the upper body and I'm gonna try water aerobics that someone else has recommended, you have to try all sorts to find what works for you. That is what we're all here for, support, tips and advice. :) Stress is our enemy, fibro loves stress, it feeds off of it, I know it's hard Winnie, but try to keep calm,:) tonic water helps with rls, soaking in a warm epsom salt solution helps with pain in feet. As for family and friends understanding what you are going thru? they can't, all you can do is try to educate them, get 'em to read these boards, they'll see a whole new side to what you are putting up with. I've no doubt that more of my fellow fibromites will be along with advice etc, you are not alone Winnie, keep us up to date with yourself and try to keep well, take care my fibro sister, tenderest of fibro hugs Snoozyowl;)
