I have been on Prilosec for a month or so. It is still working though not completely. I still can feel the acid trying to come up even though it is mild. Is it ok to take something in addition to the Prilosec? Like maybe later in the day? Thanks

try switching medicines. i personally like nexium, or aciphex, better. if you've tried some other medicines and you get breakthroughs, i take some mylanta or tums or whatever they make that helps. they're okay to take with them because they're a calcium or magnesium antacid and prilosec is a different kind, although if you need something else daily you should talk to your doctor. and you can't really overdose on antacids by taking something extra later in the day... sometimes I have to take nexium twice a day if I feel worse certain days/weeks. My dads a g/i doc, and he pretty much just says to increase the nexium (prilosec) dose if my stomach is still having problems. But hopefully you can try getting on something else, because I had alot of the same problems you're describing until I took a high dose of nexium for a month, and then decreased it.
