If you have surgery for P.F. who did it? Foot dr or Orthopedic MD. the physical therapist suggested the ortho and not a foot Dr.

I have not had the surgery for PF and I have seen both an Ortho and a Foot Doc. They both just wanted to shoot me up with the injections and send me on my way.
I am going to check around the web for that new PF surgery they are doing and post a thread about it.

Hi, I had that surgery in 2004 and my Podiatrist did it. I had some tissue breakdown afterwards and it took a little longer to heal but its GREAT now. Since then I've had to have a Morton's Neuroma removed on the same foot and that is doing well also.
My advice, just get it overwith. You'll have a lot less pain in the long run.
btw, I have fibromyalgia so I always have a new pain somewhere and its also probably the reason it took me so long to heal.

Unless your orthopedic surgeon is a foot and ankle specialist then a Podiatrist likely has a lot more experience with this. All they do is foot and ankle surgery. My old ortho doc did some things to my ankle that needed to be redone by my podiatrist. He didn't necessarily do anything wrong but my podiatrist said he would have done things differently and I wouldn't have had to go back for another surgery. There are good and bad doctors in both professions so get several opinions. My podiatrist did tell me that my insurance probably wouldn't pay for plantar faciitis surgery unless I had a couple cortisone injections first.

I've had two PFs done on my left foot. The first one did't take and I had to have it redone. Two different docs performed each surgery...both were podiatrists...however, they were both military docs.
If you would have asked me after the first surgery, I would have told you not to do it...but since I've had the second surgery...done correctly, I've been good. No more heal pain...just a little hypersensitivity around the scarring.
