View Full Version : 2 weeks post op, seeing 20/25 and 20/40

At my one week check I was seeing 20/25 in my right eye and 20/40 in my left. It hasn't seemed to improve over the last week. I'm very thankful that my vision was enhanced enough that I can function and drive without glasses. BUT, I'm a student and seeing the board in lectures is difficult, also road signs are very blurry. The OD said my eyes were a little dry, but not overly much (they only really feel dry when I wake in the morning). I'm thinking right now I'll probably need an enhancement in a few months, but I was wondering if anyone found themselves in a similar situation after 2 weeks and ended up healing to 20/20 after a time? I guess I'm still hopeful :) and would like to hear a little optimism.

At one week I'm blurry and with halos, also. My post op was yesterday. I was told "you're doing great" but then also told my vision might be as good it gets. He tells me its 20/20 and 20/25 but I"m so blurry I can hardly see anything!!!! I will watch your replies with interest and I wish you the best! Maybe we'll both get back more acuity!

Had mine about 6 years ago, my day after exam was about 20/40 or worse on both eyes, could only see the clock on wall a little. Doctor said that was normal and will continue to get better for a month. In about a month, I was 20/20. My eyes were almost blind with about 20/1000+. So don't worry, it is great! After a month went body boarding and waves flushed into my eyes, and got nervous but has been great. Give it time.

it takes a good 3-6 months for most people's eyes to fully heal and stabalize after lasik. if your doctor says your doing fine, you probably are. my vision was 20/40 in my left eye for almost 3 months post op, and my doc said my eyes were dry..... though they didn't really feel dry except when i woke up.... i figured my doctor just didn't really care because he already had my money, and my vision was going to suck forever, and i just knew i was going to need an enhancement, and i cursed the day i ever got lasik..... but just incase the doc might be right, i started using artificial tears at least 4 times a day..... i couldn't believe it, but within a couple of days my left eye started getting clearer and by my next appointment had improved to 20/25. now my vision is 20/12.5 in both eyes!

so to answer your question, yes, i went through similar experiences with my lasik (see my various other posts on the subject for more details), and it took a good three months for my vision to really start to clear (although i think if i'd been more diligent about using the artificial tears from the beginning, it might have improved faster!). get plenty of rest (being tired really makes for blurry vision), use those artificial tears religiously, and for now, sit up front in your classes! :)

I had my surgery two weeks and two days ago and my distance vision remains blurry. The first day after the op, I could read the last line of the eye chart with my left eye and the second to last with my right one (not crisp, though). I finished taking the steroid drops yesterday and my vision seems to get worse. I still can drive during the day, but I do not think I can drive at night. The only time it gets better is a second or two after I put eye drops to hydrate my eyes. Is this normal? I will have my third week checkup next Tuesday.
