I've recently been diagnosed with a Dopamine Deficiency, which causes tremors, yet is not related to lesions on the brain. I was told this is extremely rare to have such a condition without the presence of an identifiable disease or specific types of lesions on the brain.
Meanwhile, my symptoms match Fibromyalgia exactly, to the point that several people now have essentially told me that I likely have it. Working on getting in to see a Rheumatologist.
Has anyone else here been diagnosed with a Dopamine Deficiency of undetermined cause?
(P.S. I have never used illegal drugs and never abused legal drugs.)
Sincerely,
Caring

Caring, I don't have dopamine deficiency (that I know of), but my dr. thinks my seratonin levels (same sort of thing) may be low, and therefore, I am ultra-sensitive to pain. I have had some of the symptoms of fibromyalgia for the past 10 years, and nothing helped at all....until, my current dr. put me on Effexor XR. The pain has subsided by at least 50% for me, and I go back next month to see if he wants to increase the dosage.
Are you taking any kind of medication for the problem yet?

Carbidopa/Levadopa combination which really is helping to control the tremors, and this is how the Doc knows I have a Dopamine deficiency, because if this particular medication gets rid of my tremors, then he knows they are caused by a Dopamine deficiency. My various symptoms mimic a few different things, including Parkinson's, though the Doc says I don't fit the criteria for Parkinson's exactly at this time, so he has to monitor it and see what else comes up. Lots more tests to do.
Yes, serotonin can cause lots of problems too. Hope you are feeling better. Take Care.
