I have been diagnosed with acid reflux for about 8 years by now. I do not really feel the acid reflux except once in a while I felt the sour taste fluid in my mouth after a really heavy meal. Also, once in a long while, I would be awakened by throat irritation with heavy coughing (usually happened after I ate a meal just right before I went to bed). Other than those, I do not feel the reflux at all. And there are no other symptoms. And I am not taking any medications for the reflux now. So, does it necessarily mean that you do not have acid reflux if you do not feel it? I still remember that when they first said I had acid reflux about 8 years ago, I was very surprised because I had never felt it before except the sour taste fluid in my mouth once in a while.
I have also been diagnosed with hiatus hernia about 2 years ago. I am not sure if it's related to the question that I am asking.
Now I have to decide whether I should go for an endoscopy. Considering the medical costs, would you do it under my situation? I need advice.
