Does anyone know if Fibromyalgia causes your fingers to swell? I have been having pain in my fingers and hands for the last 3-4 wks. My fingers have been swelling so much that my rings will not even move. During the day when I am working they go down, but after I go home they start swelling again. One of my knuckles is also very sore.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Jeannie,
My hands do the same thing off and on. It was one of my chief complaints when I was diagnosed with fibro. The only thing I have found that helps is exercising them a little every day. Nothing serious, just moving them around. What kind of work do you do? I find my really swell when I type on the computer typing alot.

Hi. I too suffer from my fingers being swelled up. Don't really know why. Not even sure it's a symptom of FM. Do they get red too when they swell? How about your ankles. My ankles swell too.
God bless

HI!
Me too! Sometimes my hands look like catcher's gloves! It seems to go away on it's own, usually in a day or so. Mine tingle when they are swollen.

Add another "yes" to the list. I don't know if swelling is a part of fms, but there are soooooo many weird symptoms with this that I really don't know how you know whether it's related or not! I've gotten to the point where no matter what happens, I chalk it up the Monster. That's probably not a good idea, because if I ever have an unrelated problem/illness, I'll probably miss it. I'm just too embarrased to tell my doc every single problem that comes up, especially since it seems like there's a new one every day! Do you have redness with the swelling? Did your doc do a RA panel? I know that swelling with redness is a symptom of RA. That's the first thing my doc tested me for, even though I didn't have redness. Of course, it's also a symptom of osteoarthritis. Are you on an anti-inflammatory? I take Mobic twice a day and wouldn't trade it for the world!

Hi, I'm Karen and I suffer with MAJOR swelling of my legs, ankles, and feet. Also my hands and fingers. I thought it was a side effect of the Ultram, but I didn't think about it being one of the symptoms of the FM. Does any one also take Ultram and have side effects from it?

I'm with Karen Roden on the swelling of all the extremities, though mine is not real bad. I have had swelling problems for many years before FM though and seem to have very little now..
As far as Ultram & pain meds causing my swelling, Not Me.. I swelled and had other symptoms with FM before I ever took anything for it at all. Who really knows.. Not I..
Just check another YES on the list for me too!!
