View Full Version : Probiotics-A BAD idea?

Hi there, I have a question about giving bifido complex to a 15 month old with severe acid reflux. He also has food allergies and i have heard great things about the bifido complex being given to babies as young as 2-3 months and helping with "colic". (acidophilus is not beneficial to children this young) I finally ordered some bifido complex as my son is still having issues. But he is also on 30 mg of prevacid (since 3 months old), because without it, his esophogus becomes damaged from all of the acid coming up, he screams during feedings, he was failure to thrive, and they were going to put him on tube feeding. When we started prevacid he became so much better. He was able to feed without screaming.
But I am still concerened with his food intolerances and his overall digestion. in the past few weeks he started pooping 10 or more times a day. But now, the pamphlet that i got with my kirkman probiotics i just ordered says that the bifido complex increase stomach acidity ( by producing lactic and acetic acids ), so i am curious if the probiotics would do more harm than good for him?
