View Full Version : Sudden change in eye color?

At some point within the last year or so my eyes have lightened significantly from the dark brown that they've alway been, to a more hazel color (they are pretty much green now with a blob of dark brown still in the center). The color change is most noticeable in close up pictures taken with the flash on, however if I am just looking in the bathroom mirror or something it is also noticeable. I am not sure exactly when this started happening but I am looking at one of my senior pictures right now (4 years ago) and my eyes were definitely a uniform dark brown color. Both eyes are affected about the same amount. I have read that changes in eye color can be a sign of serious diseases, what these diseases are I do not know. Is this something I need to be very worried about or is it more something I should casually mention to the doctor the next time I am there, which probably won't be for awhile? And also if it makes a difference, I am very light skinned, and red-haired, so it would not be that unusual if I have the genes somewhere for light eyes, but it's the relatively recent change that has me concerned.

It's very odd, isn't it, but not unheard of. My son's eyes went from blue to hazel.
