I was on depo- for about 4 years, off of it over 3 years. Are you concerned that since you were on it you may now have trouble getting pregnant?

I have not heard that from anyone or any doctor - so that is good news for you if that is your question :).

Let me know if that was not your question, lol.
thanks

Getting birth control out of your system can take a while. For me it was about 4 months after i stopped taking it before i saw any sort of regularity in my cycles.
Have you talked with your Dr. about TTC and how the shot would have effected it? I have heard some information. But not alot. So talk to your Dr. and see what you can find my Googling it.

Good luck!

hate to break it to you but Depo and fertility issues are very common. You should go to the birth control board and do a search for depo. You will find numerous posts of others myself included who found out after being on Depo that fertility took a lot longer to return than drs are willing to admit. I have had several infertility specialist tell me that Depo has brought them many patients and as long as it ia available they will keep getting more and more women facing the hard road of infertility.
I was only one it for 6 months. My last shot was Oct 22,1996. Yes that date is burned in my memory cause about two weeks after that Dh and I decided I was done with that bc method. Little did we know it was too late for us at least. The age difference between our sons was not on purpose. From that last shot to the day I got pregnant there was no form of bc used at all. I got pregnat with my second son Feb 14(that weekend) of 2000.
And if you look at my sig you will see that we are still ttc#3. Neither I nor my dh have any known problems...both been throughly tested several times over.
If you have the info from when you first started the shot you will see that is says fertility can take as long as 18 months to return after the last shot. This shot is serious business and drs dont throughly go over the info and some dont even know themselves.
Best thing right nwo is to get the book Taking Charge Of Your Fertility and start charting your BBT. Do this for the next three cycles that way you can take those in to see yoru dr and start testing and such. Your dr will take you more serious if you have some info like BBt charts in hand.

Use the search function and look for posts by someone named Barton93. She has posted her horror story about what happened when she tried to get off depo and how it took forever to ttc because of what it did to her.

That stuff is poison. I'm sorry you took it, because it really messes up your system in every way possible. At least with the pill, the problems clear up eventually. But with depo, they stick around forever.

Oh just thought I would add my period returned about a week after my next shot would have been due. Everything was regular from there on out. So even just because everything seems normal doesnt mean it as I found out the hard way.
