Okay just a little history, my dh (22yrs old) and I (20yrs old) havent REALLY been ttc until this month...I mean we've bd'ed for 6 years with absolutely no contraception but I think we just missed the mark each time! I had irregular periods for about a year and half to where I would only get maybe 4 a year, and then when I lost about 40lbs, they came back just like that, and they are pretty regular, usually start anywhere on the 8th or 10th of each month and last from 5-9 days or so. Now we're ready to have a baby and I have no clue where to start!!
I bought an OPK tonight and did my first test just because I was anxious and didnt want to wait until tomorrow. The LH line was lighter than the control but barely, like you really had to look to see that it was lighter. Does this mean that I am ovulating or does this not mean anything? From what I have tried to figure out based on all the helpful information Ive gotten from this board (thank god for all of you ladies!!!), I think that I am on cd13 or cd14. Should I start bding the next couple of days just in case, or have I already missed my chance this month?? Also when are you supposed to take a HPT? Is it ever too early to take one?
What can you girls tell me!! I am clueless!

I would start BDing from now as the OPK lets you know about 12-48hs in advance when you should ovulate. HPT should be done around AF to avoid the disappointment of a BFN although some have gotten a BFP as early as 10DPO. I wish you the best of luck in your TTC journey.

Well it could mean 1 of 2 things. You should expect a + OPK in the next day or two. Or you just missed the LH Surge and if you haven't BDid in a couple days you should tonight for sure.

welllllll we bd'ed last night, and I tried the whole pillow thing. lol different thats for sure :) anyhow, I did another test this morning and the line was barely visible...definately alot lighter than the control.....what does this mean other than there isnt much lh? did i miss my chance this month?? *tear

If the last line was at all lighter than the control line then the LH level wasn't heading towards OV yet. Until they're literally the same color or the test line is way darker your LH levels are not there. Don't take to heart that it was lighter today... I did my first Ov. kit this month, started a few days early and the lines were varying (lighter to close) to the control line until I did hit my surge - and then there was no question, the lines were identical the first day, and the 2nd day it was much darker, then the 3rd day (just cause I was curious lol) was lighter again.
So you may not have hit it yet :)

Totally depends on your cycle to be honest... you may be, but if you have 29 - 32 day cycles it may not be too late at all.. typically you ovulate roughly 14 days before your period. So in your case, if you're on day 14 (and already ovulated this month), that would mean you have your period every 26-28 days.
Could be right on time (which means it's possible you missed the day the ovulation kit would catch the LH surge - because that comes roughly 2 days BEFORE you ovulate) or still a day or two away if you have slightly longer (30 day?) cycles. But every woman is different... if you bd'd yesterday and you're only 13 - 14 days into your cycle, unless you have a short cycle it's still very possible you either JUST ovulated (which would be fine), or you're about to.

heh! okay thanks! that gives me some hope then for this month because mine are usually pretty long...like 29-32 days normally. Im gna keep trying and Im going to start temping tomorrow just for kicks and giggles! My husband likes all this practicing! haha

omg ur making me so excited! haha now the trick is getting him to bd 3 more nites in a row!! lol I bought prenatal vitamins today, a basal thermometer, a parents magazine, and pregnancy tests! haha can u tell im excited? Ive been looking at baby names all week too.....i feel like im getting my hopes up but i just cant help it!!

ok so last night we didnt bd bcuz me and dh got into a fight....about what else?? a baby! he thinks im taking it too seriously, and that it will just happen! ugh!
anyhow, we will hopefully bd tonight and tomorrow. I have been having alot of cramping in my abdomin, but not like AF cramps....could those be ov cramps?? TMI Warning my nipples are also verrrry sore, and Ive been feeling really anxious lately, but I havent noticed any type of discharge....could that mean that im not actually ovulating?.....hrmm
oh and my opk strip this morning was like my very first one???:confused:
