larbec7 08-24-2007, 12:22 AM I live in Texas and I was wondering if all states were the same? Sponsor rayefaye 08-25-2007, 03:40 PM If you're talking about the laws for disability for Social Security, yes, the laws are the same in all states because it's federal funded. larbec7 08-25-2007, 04:00 PM Yes, thank you ilmbg 10-18-2007, 12:28 AM Sorry to tell you, that, no, all states are NOT the same. Just '******' 'state laws of workmans comp'. There are 5 states in the US that are independantly covered- that means that they are not covered by the government. These states put the WC taxes from your paycheck into a state fund(Insurance)- many of the people that work for wc in these states are 'lay' people who decide the outcome. The doctors are hired by the state, they are not hired by federal government. The people who work for wc are there to keep the money in the hands of the state. They are not there to help us unless absolutely needed. They are not to 'volunteer' information to you- you must ask. I have a relaltive who works in the federal system, that is why I know about it. He cannot even talk to me about wc when we have family gatherings, as that would be construed as'helping' me. Now, I am against people who say they can't work- and you'll see them out hunting elk or moose- well, if you can manhandle a dead elik/moose in the wild, where you have to haul the carcass in by manpower- no ATV's- well, I would rule against you too. I personally know 3 people who are either on wc, or applied for SS, who have noe business doing so. One, is a nurse that I worked with, who 'didn't want to work so hard for her money'- she can't work, but she can ride on 100 mile Endurance Rides (on horseback) about twice a month. She says- 'these rides just happen to be on days when she feels great'. Bull. Another person is building his house by himself- he said he might as well get some free money while he can- he hauls lumber, is on ladders, works HARD all day building his house (he has no help), but can't work light duty in an office. For each of these people, there is no documentable evidence of any type of injury or illness. They have 'headaches, tired, blurred vision, but when all sorts of tests are done the doc's can find nothing wrong. Don't get me wrong- there are many people who need some cork comp for awhile- I am one who broke my neck and back at work- I have a long ways to go yet- I was so hoping that I would be back to work by now! I love my work! So, back to the gest of things- there are many people who need help, but many who are just trying to get something for free. Backinthesaddle 10-18-2007, 09:00 AM I am also in Texas and Texas has about the worse WC there is. I am fighting with them and it just gets worse. Years ago it was much better. ICC 10-18-2007, 11:31 AM I am misunderstanding something somewhere. I understood the poster to ask about SS being the same in all states not WC. WC is different in all states, there are some that have the same laws but probably not all of them. SS is the same in every state as it's federal. Did I miss something? ICC I was asking myself the same question ICC:confused: I do know WC is different in all States, but I think the other poster meant that there are 5 States that do not adhear to the SS laws as we know them...I would like to know who the 5 States are. Maybe the poster will come back and tell us. Hope all of you ae having a good day. Mammy ilmbg 10-18-2007, 11:01 PM No- it's me that missed it- I thought you were asking about wc. Yes, ss is the same. SSD,SSI is different. Sorry! I would have to ask my cousin about which states are the ones that are independent- I know Wyoming is one of them. MAMMYBOJAMMY 10-19-2007, 09:35 AM No- it's me that missed it- I thought you were asking about wc. Yes, ss is the same. SSD,SSI is different. Sorry! I would have to ask my cousin about which states are the ones that are independent- I know Wyoming is one of them. If you would, I certainly would appreciate it. I am curious now....I have never heard this before, as I am sure lots of others haven't either.......I will watch under this post to see when you list them. This is very interesting... Hope you have a good day. Mammy startinovr2 10-20-2007, 01:15 PM I know that there are five states that have temporary disability. Actually that require Employers to deduct for that insurance. NY , NJ , Cal., Hawaii and? also Puerto rico. But Perm. Disability is Federal and I think the same in all 50 states. |
