If you somehow get pregnant while on BC, don't know it, and keep taking BC what could that possibly do to your child?

B/C has not been shown to harm a foetus.

if bc does not harm the feotus, does that mean you remain pregnant even if taking bc? would you still have a period at the end of the pack? when/how would you know if you are pregnant?

Birth Control does not prevent you from being pregnant if you are already pregnant. With most forms of Birth Control you can tell that you may be pregnant because you will not get your period. However, on occassion, you may miss your period on Birth Control and not be pregnant.
My suggestion would be to continue your Birth Control after missing the first period, but take a pregnancy test after two weeks. If it is negative, continue Birth Control. If positive, stop Birth Control and see your doctor.
If you miss two periods in a row while on Birth Control, stop taking it and see your doctor. Unless, of course, you are on one of the few Birth Control Pills that completely stops your period, which you should know beforehand.
If you continue on Birth Control Pills for a long while after you become pregnant, it can be the cause of some birth defects.
Hope this helps.

I'd like to add my two cents here. Many BC pills have a secondary backup that makes the uterus inhospitable to the developing baby, and your body expels it during your period. The PDR uses language such as "a progestational effect on the endometrium, interfering with implantation." (Ortho-Novum). It is possible to get pregnant while on the pill (I did, twice) and the pill cause miscarriage. Sometimes, this can cause excessive bleeding requiring d&c.
