Has anyone suffered any side effects from this drug? My mother was receiving a weekly injection of 60,000 (units). My family had began noticing possible side effects after the first couple of weeks. Then in May of this year shortly after receiving the injection, she was rushed to the emergency room with very low blood pressure and her heart had stopped. She was placed on the ventilator. Overnight she improved and in a few days was moved to a private room. She was never given an explanation on what happened. My mother and her family informed the doctor and nurses not to give the injection again as we had suspicions about the drug (procrit) causing this. She was to be released from the hospital in a few days.
For whatever reason, she was given the procrit injection again and was rushed back to ICU within two days due to difficulty breathing and was placed back on the ventilator. When the doctor was asked why the injection was given, he blamed it on the nurse. We informed him that we had already talked to the nurse and she stated she had reminded him the patient did not want the drug. He stated it was only miscommunication. My mother passed away after two months in ICU.
I have contacted patients and families we have met in the ICU waiting room and have found similiar stories about side effects from the drug and possibly one other death.
My mother did not have cancer. She did have heart surgery in 1999 and recently suffered from mild anemia.

Does anyone know if this drug is to be used on heart patients? If this drug is dangerous, why are doctors allowed to keep making money off of it?

The autopsy report indicates the cause of death is not what the doctors had diagnosed.
It appears the side effects of the drug caused numerous blood clots and respiratory problems.
I ecourage everyone who is taking the drug Procrit or know someone who is, to check into any possible side effects before it is too late.

After numerous attempts, more medical records were received. The doctor was charging almost $2,000.00 per PROCRIT injection. He was also receiving nice rebate checks from Ortho Biotech and Johnson and Johnson.
This drug has been proving to be harmful to SOME patients. I continue to plead with everyone to research this.

For everyone's safety concerning this drug, we need others to come forward. Has no one heard of the dangers of this drug????

Hopefully some of you have checked into this drug. The silence really worries me.
