My husband is an alcoholic and has been getting very sick and losing weight. His doctor did numerous blood tests and an ultrasound. His blood tests for the liver were both high and low, but the ultrasound of the liver was negatve. It did show what may be an infection of the right kidney. My question is this, does an ultrasound always show liver failure due to alcohol abuse? Thank you.
